December 28, 2020:

Knocker 0.8.0 has been released. This is a maintenance version. It fixes a huge bug that was causing the program to crash after the first launch. A timeout of 1 second has been added for a port connection.

May 24, 2002:

Knocker 0.7.1 has been released. This version fixes a problem in the 0.7.0 release that was causing knocker not to build on non-Linux OS (FreeBSD, OpenBSD, HP-UX, and so on).

May 19, 2002:

Knocker 0.7.0 has been released, there are meny bug fixes and important improvements:

A new option to display the program output in a "no-fency" mode was added, and also the possibility to configure knocker with the also new --configure option was added.

The colored output code has been improved and it is not causing the background color to change anymore if knocker is executed in a X11 terminal. The text is now correctly displayed on transparent background terminals too.

Two new options were added, these are --last-scan, to perform again the last port scan, and --last-host, which puts the last scanned host as target.

March 31, 2002:

As previously announced a new GTK+ version of knocker has been released. It is gtk-knocker 0.6.6

You can see it on the screenshots page.

This version has been rewritten from scratch, and the GUI interface has been redesigned using GLADE.

The nasty "freeze" bug has been eliminated and the stop/start scan buttons are now working properly.

March 13, 2002:

A third part GUI frontend for the win32 version of knocker is now available.

It has been developed and contributed by "Worm".

March 9, 2002:

Knocker version 0.6.6 has been released.

Fixed a serious bug that was preventing knocker to scan a number of ports greater than 1023, all ports scanned after 1023 ports already scanned were reported as closed.

Fixed another bug that was causing knocker to segfault before exiting if a hostname couldn't be resolved.

March 8, 2002:

Knocker version 0.6.5 has been released.

Most important change and improvements are:

Native Win32 Winsock code, (knocker can now be compiled and run natively on Win32 platforms).

A More accurate elapsed time shown in the results.

Correct service names are now shown on Windows.

February 17, 2002:

As previously announced knocker 0.6.0 has been released (the GTK version hasn't made it to 0.6.0 yet, we'll see in the next days...)

The most important changes are, a faster tcp port scan, a restyled text output (new colors), and the elapsed time in second now shown in the portscan's results.

February 15, 2002:

Good news, big portions of the knocker's code have been rewritten, knocker_core has been redesigned, and rewritten as well.

This is mainly because by now it will be easier to improve, maintain and modify the code.

The other good news is that both knocker and gtk-knocker 0.6 will be released in a few days.

February 13, 2002:

knocker 0.5.2 released. This version fixes an important bug in the previous version, that prevented it to work properly if started in the default mode.

So please if are using knocker 0.5.1 download a newer version.

February 11, 2002:

knocker project web site renewed.

knocker 0.5.1 is out. This is mainly a bug fix release.

- Threads code removed. Knocker is no longer using threads. (to be reimplemented).

- Option added to perform a port scan on a single port.

- Two important bugs fixed. (see ChangeLog for detailed infos).

January 6, 2002:

Knocker 0.5.0 has been released.

- Options to run the program in background and log results to a file added.

- Option to disable threads usage added.

August 2, 2001:

Both knocker and gtk-knocker are now officially available for HP-UX.
